Introduction:
The Executive Chair of the Gulf-Africa Strategic Partnership Initiative for Sustainable Partnerships and Investments (GASPI), Mr. Demba Hydara, led a delegation to the Office of the President to brief His Excellency, the President of the Republic of The Gambia, on recent and ongoing diplomatic engagements. These activities form part of GASPI’s broader mission to strengthen international collaboration, promote sustainable development, and facilitate strategic partnerships ahead of the December Conference in Saudi Arabia.
Purpose of the Meeting
The meeting was convened to update the President on GASPI’s engagements with key stakeholders including:
- Mayors and municipal leaders across Senegal and The Gambia
- Strategic partners within the Gulf region
- International development networks working closely with GASPI
These diplomatic activities aim to expand cooperation frameworks, foster investment opportunities, and prepare a unified regional agenda for the upcoming global conference.

1. Presidential Support and Commitment
His Excellency warmly received the GASPI delegation and expressed strong interest and support for the initiative. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to efforts that align with and enhance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), acknowledging the importance of cross-border municipal collaboration and global partnerships.
2. Presentation of Customized Presidential Refreshment
As a symbol of appreciation and partnership, the GASPI Chairman presented the President with a customized bottled water, produced exclusively by a GASPI partner for the refreshment of His Excellency. The gesture underscored GASPI’s dedication to innovation, branding, and high-level engagement.
3. Strengthening Global Partnerships
The meeting served as a critical step in consolidating GASPI’s network of development allies. The briefing connected the presidency with major global development partners and laid the groundwork for enhanced collaboration ahead of the Saudi Arabia conference.
